Younicycle for Application and Web Developers
When we started working on Younicycle, we thought we had a lofty goal:
- Develop a multiuser framework where a Content Developer could use WYSIWYG Tools & a simple GUI to create and maintain content with the same functionality that could be achieved as an Application Developer.
Sounded good but as you know, a vibrant application or web project needs a serious level of flexibility. WYSIWYG Tools just can't get into 'every corner'. We decided to add a deeper level of Tools, specifically for your needs.
Now a Content Developer can work with you on the same platform - or within the same account. A few of 'your items' are listed below, specific to younicycle's toolset. Bear in mind - that even more flexibility is available if you install the Younicycle Server Package on your own server.

The GYRE:The GYRE (Graphical Younicycle Recorder & Editor) can be supplemented by CSS, JS (JQuery), Datasources & Php. An Editor is provided - and when Saved, becomes part of your File system which is readily accessed from the GYRE.
As an example: You can write the CSS - and then use the GYRE to access the CSS (or JS, etc). The Content Developer may have been stymied trying to write the original CSS - but can certainly select a class from a list that is provided in the GYRE.
Another example: You could write a series of Php scripts - and the Content Developer can simply use the Events Editor within the GYRE to add: executeAction('that_script');
Yet another: You could design several Tables and Queries & PGSQL functions. The Content Developer would simply need to designate the datasource and lay down (or merge) datafields.
The GYRE allows both types of people to work together as a Team. To each his own, depending on strengths and talents.

The Actions Editor:The Actions Editor has its own API, but you can always add to it - and create your own Library.

The Table Editor, Functions Editor, Query Editor:If you are working with variable content, you'll need a stable Enterprise level DB. We chose PostgreSQL - and have created a set of Tools/GUI that give you understandable access to this powerful engine. 'Interim' query results are returrned to your browser for testing - before Saving your actual query to your account.
If you are already a PostgreSQL pro - you'll be able to continue to use your traditional tools (YSP) - or simply type your SQL into the Query Editor tab.
If you need to create a Private Function - can do. If you want to create a Public function (YSP only) for all of your Accounts - can do.

Built in ACL and Roles:You can create your own Roles and assign users to those Roles, once again with the built in GUI. Younicycle has > 300 possible actionable privileges - so in most cases, you can fine tune to your desire.
SaaS Manager:Make a complex Solution with > 1,000 objects, tables, queries, images, scripts, pages, files.
Click a button - and package it. Send it to your other Accounts - and they can install with a click. All objects, IDs, etc are renamed according to their schema.
Better yet - if it's really good, package it, document - and we'll sell it for you at the Younicycle Solutions shop.
