A summary of recent developments:

Younicycle was updated today to PostgreSQL 8.31. The process went smoothly & without incident. If you do find a problem within your account, please let us know by using the Contact form.
Two new tool buttons (SWF's & Charts) have been added to the GYRE for use in the creation of applications and websites. You can now embed charts and swfs to your webpages and applications by simply clicking a button, clicking the desired location on your 'whiteboard' and designating the specific chart or swf.
Charts have been completely rewritten and now use AJAX to access the various chart functions. The interface for designing charts has been simplified from 4 steps to 1. Also, you can data enter the chart data before selecting the chart type - OR - you may use a previously created datasource and change at will.
The 'inner pages' are now all using a flavor of AJAX (xajax). Page loading is much quicker.
Images within your account can now be viewed in 4 different ways. Searching for specific images - or files - within your account is now possible based on either description or the name of the object. Search also uses Xajax, so it is quick.
The Website wizard now allows you to add Google Analytics code. Sitemap.xml is automatically generated + you have the option of NOT including specific pages within the sitemap.
The Website wizard now allows you to add your meta descriptions and tags *outside* the GYRE. Formerly, it was necessary to load the entire page before edit. That is no longer necessary and now edit is a simple matter of typing.
A variety of possible Actions have been added to the Role Based Access Control. There are now 271 possible Actions that can be used in combination by Account Admins for creating Roles.
Linear forms have been added to the Properties palette for Applications and Websites.
A variety of minor quirks have been corrected with the Expression editor for Queries.
A 'temprary, reusable' button has been added to Expressions, simplifying rewrite of difficult expressions
Queries can now include Limit and Offset.
Queries now have the additional option of Full Joins
Create Datatype should be complete within a week, allowing creation of custom datatypes.
Combination keys are now possible.
Keys now display in the Relations GUI for Queries.
PHP with SOAP has been enabled on the server. This will be unnoticed by users or accounts.
Adobe labs now has FlashPlayer 10 available for testing. We have tested the GYRE with PC, Mac and Linux without problems. Of note is that performance on Linux is significantly more brisk. go to labs.adobe.com if you would like to test.
The Web portion of the GYRE was altered to provide better Minify scores.
Websites created using the Gyre are now in compliance with XHTML Strict.
A very thorough Templating system for Websites and Web pages is nearly complete.
With virtually 0 marketing or external site content edits or additions, we have managed to climb to page 1 of Google' search results for 'web application builder'. By September, the external portion of this site will include >100 additional pages of content (learning materials) in 5 languages (English, Russian, German, Spanish, French).

Access Control List (ACL) Update

Younicycle has added a variety of possible, User Actions to the Access Control List. Administrators should adjust their existing Roles as appropriate. The default for any new Actions for existing accounts is "not allowed". Administrators of accounts should enable any new Actions for specific Roles as appropriate.

The 'degree' of any possible online collaboration among Users is dictated by the Admin for the Account. The GUI allows the Admin to build Roles by simply clicking the applicable listed item(s) and then saving the new Role. Users can then be assigned to the Role - which in turn - determines the level of possible collaboration while online within their Account. In short, Roles and assignments to those Roles define the level of possible online collaboration within the suite.

Live Demo of 'Whiteboard for Grownups'

Younicycle has added a live Demo of Template, one of the set of Tools driven by the GYRE (Graphical Younicycle Recorder & Editor). Template is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) tool & used primarily for online design of PDF's which can be either 'static' or data driven.

When used in 'data driven' mode, a Template can be used to create complex documents such as (examples follow) Personalized Employee Benefit Statements (Total Rewards Statements), benefit enrollment materials or any other pdf that needs to be personalized/dynamic.

Younicycle Adds Personalized Charts

Younicycle added a Chart button today to its PDF creation tool, the Gyre (Template).

The Chart button allows a User to choose charts previously created in the Chart module and automatically link those charts to the template. The Gyre Template renders an image that is then used FPO (for placement only) on the Whiteboard of the template. A Template that is also bound to a datasource, can then create a pdf with personalized graphics for print.
Note that 'live' Charts cannot be Previewed within the Gyre.

Available Chart types include:

Pie 2D
Pie 3D
Horizontal Bars 2D
Column 2D
Radar Plots
Area 2D

Each can be bound to either a Table or a Query with a variety of editable Properties for each type.
Short version? Personalized Charts are now available.

Registered Accounts and/or their Admins are encouraged to:

Go to their Access Controls List and add Charts as an Allowable Action for appropriate Roles.
Test. Remember that for Personalization, the Template must be bound to a Datasource + use of the Chart Tool. The Chart tool is located on the Tools bar.
