Pdfs were a great 'invention' and remain a viable means of sending a common and comprehensive 'enclosed file' from A to B. Useful as they are, they can be overused. An example would be asking users to fill out Pdf forms and populate with data. Getting data back out of the Pdf form - and then manipulating the data can be painful.
Pdfs are created directly on the Server, with a single click. The Design Editor for creating a Pdf is a Template. There is a button (Icon) within Templates that begins the Pdf creation process with one click.
If you are sure that you want to create a Pdf from a specific Template - and do NOT need to Edit the template, you can navigate to Template via the YTree and click the button for 'Create Pdf'.
Pdfs are added to a 'Queue" for creation. Generally, this process begins immediately. A 1,000 page Pdf is typically created in approximately 2.5 minutes.
Pdfs are retrieved via the YTree, by navigating to the folder 'Pdfs'. You can then View them in your browser, download to your desktop - or - leave them in the account for someone else to retrieve.
Fonts are Embedded Subset, TrueType (CID). Due to the complexity of Font licensing, we only serve a limited set of Fonts from the web, however if you purchase the Younicycle Server Package, you will be able to install additional fonts. Your IT Depatmnet should help you with this instalation and the install of the entire server package.
Click the Pdf icon to begin creating a Pdf. You will be alerted that it has been added to the Queue.
Open the appropriate Template, make any last minute edits and click the Pdf Icon. You will be told it has been added to the Queue.
Use the Ytree to navigate to your Pdfs. If its name doen't appear, try clicking the Refresh button at the top of the Ytree. Otherwise, click either the word 'Pdfs' or the specific Pdf.
Click the Word 'Pdfs' and a list will open. Click the specific Pdf and it will open in your Browser.
Your list of Pdfs will appear and you will be able to Edit properties by clicking the file name or Download to your desktop.

We feel data should be in Tables. Create a PDF when you need it - primarily to be used for print. Many old systems have vast amounts of data trapped within Pdf archives. The data should have been in - and remained in Tables. Much lighter, easier to manipulate, with more advanced means of preventing data redundancy.
